Cosseria, a scattered municipality of 14.13 km² with about 1100 inhabitants, is located in Valbormida, 25 km from Savona. The earliest records date back to the year 1000. It was the scene of the Napoleonic battle of April 1796 near the ruins of the castle, called Castellania because of its size and dominant position. The parish church has late Gothic frescoes, while the bell tower of the Oratorio dei Disciplinanti is known to have only three sides. It has housed a bicycle museum since 2009. Listed among the "100 Destinations of Italy" (Senate, 2017) for its sports facilities, Cosseria is also home to the white truffle and among the most wooded areas in the country. Local associations play a key role in social inclusion; AVIS is first in the province for donors in relation to the population. The Pro Loco is known for its fried squid, prized by visitors from Liguria and Piedmont. A trail network suitable for all enhances the landscape. Tourism is welcomed by a hotel, 6 B&Bs, 3 restaurants, 2 pizzerias, 3 bars, a grocery store, a delicatessen, and a confectionery workshop.
